overclocking a Athlon II X4 640 - Page 2

You could drop your HT link down to 2000 as you won't see any performance gains and it can just cause you instability. Your ram timings are very loose at 10-9-8-24 they are a bit all over the place but I see you have mixed sticks. I would still give 8-8-8-24 a try. If that is unstable 8-9-8-24 and so forth till you get them as low as possible. With AMD you will get performance gains with tighter timings though it's hard to notice.

To be honest those things are not huge issues just really nit picking for you Everything looks good

Basically what I had to say. Your HT link speed is causing you instability, overclocking this much past 2000 actually hurts performance, so drop the multi and get that closer to 2000.

Also fix your ram timings.

You can take your CPU/NB voltage to 1.37v without a problem, just watch the temps. Try 9-9-9-24 and make sure to loosen up your command timing to 2T. 1T will cause all kinds of problems.

i'd lower tha RAM speed..tighten the timings..and push the fsb ..i had an athlon2 x4 620 ..would do 3.67..and i do believe it was limited only by the 800mhz ram i had running @ 990 mhz

Here is my current settings are there good or i have to make some changes
pls do look in it
Suggest you put the HT Link back to 2000MHz +/-100MHz
Up the northbridge bus speed 2600MHz
Up the CPU-NB Volts to 1.3v - 1.35v
Change the timings of the Ram back to 9-9-9-24

If thats stable, try and get the RAM speed up a little more.

i cant go over 2400 bcoz thats the max i can go (240x10=2400) and if i even boot up at 2t-9-9-9-24 it gives me a BSOD and i have to give it 1.8v (max on my mobo)
i have another question will 1.55v good for 24/7 Oc ??? my temps are around 50C at load(after 1 hr of prime95)
1.55v is the max safe for 24/7, but I would not push it like that.
