Update. It connected to a WEP network. Still a no-go at getting it to connect to my home network or any other WPA2 network.

Thought I'd give a HUGE bump and update this.

It's ... really odd ... what was happening and I can't even think of a way to rationalize this.

My home network name was linksys - I left it at the default and changed the WPA2 key, of course.

Last week, my other laptop stopped connecting to the wireless. I did a 30-30-30 reset on my router and changed the wifi SSID to something else. Instantly, my netbook started connecting to not only my home network but the networks i use all day at work.

There was another network nammed Linksys and somehow this was causing EVERYTHING to not work?!
