AMD screwed up really, really bad with BD.
There is no denying that.

considering it is a 1st gen product, based on an architecture designed from the ground up (something intel hasn't done since netburst), I think it is a pretty good first shot.

In most real world scenarios, it is competitive within it's price point, and overall platform cost, makes it cheaper in the end.

It would be idiotic for AMD to waste R&D money on "tweaking" for F@H. F@H users are such a small fraction of computer users.

since when was F@H a benchmark? IPC is only half of the equation...clockspeed makes up the other half.

Like the Pentium 4 "Prescott." But too bad BD still clocks lower than SB.

Compared to what? Deneb and Thuban have better price/performance ratio. The FX-8150 has one of the worst.

2500K(and AMD's own 1090T) is cheaper and has tons of better performance in real life scenarios.

There is no denying that.

But they do not know it! They do not feel the need to develop processor with higher IPC! They just want to improve bulldozer. This really frigtens me.

There is a hope, they they are working on something and just do not want to talk about it. I do not think this would be the right decision. If they do, they should tell it to their customers "do not worry, we will make you high IPC processor" and customers would be happy and relieved.

Otherwise AMD customers are left angry, upset and WITH NO HOPE.
I wanted BD to do good with f@h, I assumed having 8 actual cores would be a nice advantage over 4 cores/8 threads. Hopes are dashed lol..

I do believe that if it successfully started up, without BSODing or failing a burn-in test at default settings, you'd say that Zambezi was a great success story.

Oh, wait...it can't even do that!

What upsets me most about bulldozer is how much AMD hyped it up got people to invest im AM3+ then pulled the rug out from under us.

Conroe, Nehalem and Sandy Bridge were all significant improvements (Maybe not as much from Nehalem to SB).
Conroe was a game changer.
