What else do I need for eyefinity?

Thread Starter
I'm going Eyefinity in December. I'm getting two more monitors, this specific monitor (two of them, obviously).

What do I need to hook all of these up? The GPUs I'm using are two 5850s (yes.... I know.... vRAM is an issue, but that's not what I need assistance with).

Thanks, OCN!

I believe you use two DVI cables and then a active display port for the third monitor.

Something along the lines of this for the active connection.

I don't know which GPU you have but you should be able to find the right connections.

Edit: they posted the same one

You can find then cheaper if you browse around. Just make sure it's an active display port and you're solid.

Also I forgot to mention but if I remember correctly some AMD cards use a different type of port so check which one you got first.

Don't plan to be playing BF3 on those cards on eyefinty, Using a 6990 atm and it could barely run the beta on high at 6000x1080., medium was fine, high was stuttery

Okay, I'm confused.

I have TWO Asus 5850s. They only have one DVI port each. Do I plug one monitor into one 5850, the second monitor into the second 5850, and the third monitor into the active adapter?

I wasn't. I feel like I will be able to play on High with AA/AF/etc eye candy disabled, because I won't be running 1080p. I don't know, we'll see.

one DVI cable per card then you connect the display port to one of the cards and connect your third DVI cable to that.

I feel really stupid because I still don't get it... so forgive me. The 5850 has two ports, one regular DVI port... and whatever that mini port is, LOL.

Can someone explain to me in detail (a stupid person) how I would go by setting Eyefinity up with my two Asus 5850s?
