OCN Audiophiles Help!

Hey all,

I'm looking to get an External DAC and headphone amp for home use (connected to my comp, mainly for gaming, but also avid music and movies) my ultimate goal is to mod a pair of DT990 600ohm to add a mic port on the ear cup so i can easily attach and detach a high quality boom mic (still need to find one). The reason i don't want a internal sound card is because im going to have xfire 6950s and don't want the extra clutter inside my case (its too sexy). in order to power the DT990s right i want to go the OTL tube amp route but i just don't know how any of this will work since i will need a mic input as well as a headphone 3.5mm, please help in quite the dilemma. also would be nice to plug my Klipsch Pro Audio 2.1 system into the DAC as well (i know they arent great, but look at the headphones i wanna get and it will show u how much i use the klipschs' )

was looking at

Zero DAC or Little Dot DAC
Little Dot MKIV or MKIII

if i had the money to spend on a Woo Audio or Moth i would so please dont suggest those amazing pieces of art because no way in hell i'll be able to afford it, my budget all depends on what options i have, thats where you guys come in (note: i just purchase a eyefinity setup water cooling for CPU and another 6950 for xfire, so im feeling kinda broke but audio is really the only place besides my chair i feel i need to upgrade)

Thanks In Advance guys, tread lightly and try not to flame too hard im a little n00b at audio stuff, the farther away from my DJ setup i go in the audio world the less i know. appriciate it

I had the LD MKIII and it was good, but runs stupidly, stupidly hot. Also, when it doesn't include a DAC, it costs a lot. Have you looked into the Xonar Essence One? It's external but might be a nicer idea?

Ooo i didnt know ASUS made an External i looked at their essence ST and STX but they were internal and no matter how much i wanted to i couldnt bring myself to put a sound card inside my case, do you really think it could hold those DT990 600ohms i know it says it can handle it, i just dont know how it would sound compared to an OTL (i know a good OTL sounds out of this world with the right tubes and phones paired together)

Well, the essence ST, STX and One have an onboard headphone amp, so i'd say yes.
