Can someone tell me whats going on with my laptop screen?

Im installing a laptop screen to my hp laptop. The laptop screen's input is on the right side while the connector wire from the laptop itself is from the left side. Th e wire is unstretchable so I had to get an extension wire which I did. I put the laptop screen together and it's not working.

Here's a video of me assembling it. If I did something wrong please tell me!

is there a key on the connectors? If there is no key you can insert it whichever way you want, if there is a key, you can only insert the connectors one way.

My guess is that the cable you have isnt wired 1 to 1, I couldnt tell for sure without looking at the cable close up though.

How do I check if it has a key?

It will have plastic ridges on the top or bottom of the connector, the mating connector will have slots that those notches fit into. It could also have a different keying mechanism, most connectors are designed to be inserted only one way.

Could you take a picture of the cables, and post them?

Those are far too blurry for me to make heads or tails of it, but from what I could barely see, it looks as if the connector can only be plugged in one way.

Whats the model of your laptop?

you should have ordered the same screen that came from the laptop to save this sort of problems. i use the model/serial number on the back and get direct replacements, i see cheaper ones like £20 less but id rather know that i got the right one, especially for a customer

I didn't purchase it. The company that I ordered my screen from gave it to me. screentekinc.com

I've gotten many laptop screens from them and cables. Doesn't work. The laptop screen works but not with that extension cable. Don't know why...
