editing 6870 bios to add voltage

hey guys i had a go at editing a bios setting for my 6870 changing the corevoltage from 1.175 to 1.2v however, when i boot up it goes to windows then it blue screens? any idea why?? if i rase the max voltage do i have to raise the mininum voltage???

You may only edit the VID4 as circled in red. Any other changes will lead to crashes and BSODs. Make sure when you save the edited BIOS, you did not change the vendor ID by mistake. RBE will default to the first vendor ID in the drop down list so you have to select the correct one manually before you save it.

gpu register for me i cant select its greyed out does this mean i cant change it?

If it is greyed out and you force flashed will result in BSODs and crashes.

FYI. VID4 only works on some cards, like the 6970 and its derivatives. My rev1 6950s won't take VID4, only VID3 for instance.

Did you verify that you have a volt moddable card? Is it reference? Did you make a backup of the bios first?

erm backup made and i dont know if its reference or if i can volt mod jus assumed with cards nowadays and what ou pay for them they would at least ket you do what u want with them, seems a bit of a rip off if u cant

Some of the 68xx series got custom pcbs that are neutered. The ref cards with voltage control cost more. Search around and figure out if yours is volt moddable and or if you can enable volt modding on it.
