First OC Temps OK?

Hi everyone this is my first post/full system build/overclock (NOOB), still new to everything and wanted to get your opinion on my temps for my overclock.

I didn't adjust anything much in BIOS i just did the Asus CPU Level Up overclock to 4.6Ghz

This is with the Noctua NH-D14 on a i7 2600k

Room Temp= 20°-22°C

The voltage is set to Auto(Dont know too much about it so didn't want to mess with it) but Core Temp shows 1.37v @ Load.

From Core Temp

@Idle
Min Max
30° 33°
32° 34°
28° 30°
33° 35°

4.6@Load - 1hr Prime 95 Small FFTs
Max
65°
75°
73°
70°

At stock speeds i load at around 50°-55°C

1.37v @load seems real low for a 4.6ghz O/C, but I am new also so I may be wrong. From what I have read on here and elsewhere rule of thump on temps are keep them 10*C from max temp and you should be fine.

The only reason I think 1.37v is to low I've seen people with a 4.4ghz O/C and there at 1.60v.

Alright cool, i had some trouble when i first started it up was getting idle @45°-48° and like 78°-80° Load @ Stock =(

Turns out i applied thermal paste horribly and just went to the dot method (previous attempt was spreading/small dot, but i didn't get enough at all dot barely spread out.)

Is their room for improvement if i start messing around with the voltages?
Links to any good info for me to read would be greatly appreciated.

I think the maximum temperature of the chip is given as TCase 72.6 degrees on Intel's website Clicky.

Funnily enough if you run Realtemp (Clicky) I think you'll see max (Tjmax) temp recorded as 98 degrees.

If I'm not mistaken the processor will throttle at 95 degrees to save itself and will ultimately shut down if it gets too hot.

Looks good. There is some disagreement about what the top SB cpu is. Seeing that it throttles at 95C the 98C seems more accurate.

that might be the case for AMD but for Intel the vcore is a little high Im running 4.8@1.38v, to the OP try to lower your Vcore a notch or 2 and see if its still stable. Or raise your Multi to 47-48 for even more OC. the Temps look good

here is a great guide from Sin0822 http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...uide-p67a.html
