I asked this in the TJ08-E thread, but thought I would get a second opinion just in case. I am planning to SLI my MSI 580 Lightning Extreme in the future, but am afraid that it would be a problem in the TJ08-E. Since you both were talking about SLI in mATX cases and have experience there, would the above be OK?

The previous response I got was that the air from the 180mm fan in the TJ08E would not reach the top card...which seems pretty valid if you see pics of the TJ08E.

(I plan to get an Asus Maximus Gene Z if I go the TJ08E route.)

I agree that air would have trouble reaching the top card, and I question whether there'd be enough air to go around. Two GPUs that can put out some impressive heat, some of which they're exhausting into the case, plus a CPU cooler that still needs to be fed... You'd probably need the 180mm fan on 'full retard' or close to it to get the airflow necessary. One card easy, two I dunno about.

Cause some of us don't want/need huge ass towers and the expandibility/costs of an ATX sized mobo.

I personally don't have desire/need to run SLI for just playing PC games, its not justifiable. So why would I spend the cost on a SLI sized and priced ATX mobo and case along with power supply to feed it all? Answer: mATX and single powerful vid cards

BBEG,

Thanks for the response. Yes, the fact that 580 LEs pump heat into the case is a cause for concern. I guess I won't know for sure until I try SLI with the 580 LE in the TJ08E. Right now I am going to stick with a single card anyways. The SLI possibility is in the distant future.

1ceTr0n,
I agree with what you said and that's why I'm tempted to go towards the mATX case/board route. I mentioned in another post I wanted to possibly do SLI for BF3, but it was for more hobbyist reasons than just the game itself. The small footprint of an mATX case is just more appealing to me than having a hulking tower....and that's why I'm hanging out in the SFF forum!

Sorry I didnt see this earlier. I'd imagine the TJ08 would need some serious modding in order to make that work at any acceptable noise/heat level. Fractal, from what I can tell, has the best cooling options with a total of 7 fans that can be installed. Even with 4 120mm intake, 1 140mm and a half height 120mm for exhaust, the case gets louder than I would like.

Thanks Michalius!

Yes, the Arc Mini is also one of my possible case choices. The Arc Mini/Midi are so versatile. Good choice on the mini..great case! It's a looker as well. I think I am going to stay away from SLI 580s in the TJ08E. One MSI 580 LE is a HUGE card itself.
