Razer Electra question - Inline Microphone cable?

I am considering buying Razer's new headset, the Razer Electra.

I have a question about the 2 cables it uses.

Switch between the two audio cables according to your specific needs.
Does this mean the audio cable carries audio ONLY, and the mic carries input AND output audio? Or does it mean output audio only? If the former, what's the point of the audio only cable? Will it product better sound?

Another question is, will it be compatible with my PC? I'm not too sure on the audio cables, but my motherboard is an ASUS P7H55-M. It has a front red/green port and a back blue/red/green port.

from what im understanding:

cable 1 - audio only
cable 2 - mic and audio

you can switch depending on what you want, sometimes you may not want to use the mic and thats why the audio only cable is handy

Q: If I wanted to use the inline microphone on my PC, do I just plug the inline mic cable into the line-in jack on my PC?
A: Depends. The inline microphone will only work if your PC has a single combined audio-out/line-in 3.5mm jack. If your PC does not have such a jack, you will need to purchase a splitter adapter at your local electronics dealer.

Ok thanks. What about the second part of the question? Will it work just through the audio jack on my PC? Or will I have to use the blue port/buy an adapter?

light blue - line in
lime - line out
pink - mic in

those are the rear panel connections for your motherboard.

audio only should work fine but i think you might need a splitter adapter like it states in the Q&A for the inline mic to work for your motherboard.
