I fixed a really bad screen burn!

Thread Starter
I'm just posting this to say that it works,
I bought a 20" Samsung sync master locally for $25 because it had a HUGE screen burn from (By the looks of it) someone left there damn Internet explorer on and the hole top bar burnt into the screen, But for the last 4 days Ive used it and had the desktop set to just white and to rotate to just black every 15Mins on windows 7 and hid all the icons, And so far over 70% Of the screen burn is gone!

Im quite happy with my $25 monitor now
So Im just posting to anyone who has a problem, This is what I did to cure it!

Cheers!

Hah that's a clever way of doing things, just curious is it CCFL or LED backlit?

Yeah I've had to do that before on burn in caused by myself. I'd leave firefox open in the same position, and over many weeks it burned in. I did the same thing except I just used a white screen saver for when I went to sleep and had it on all night. Fixed it good.

Image persistence on an LCD is not the same as screen burn on a CRT or Plasma screen.

The former is temporary and easily fixed, while the latter is permanent damage.

I've had minor image persistence on my plasma that went away on its own. Never experienced burn in while using it as a monitor for 2 months, having it on for 15 hrs at a time.

another reason to switch off electronics when not in use.

i have a power strip for stuff i'd like off when i'm out of the computer room. for all my monitors, tv, speakers, desk light, usb hub.

since i hate shutting down my pc, i put it to sleep for the night.

This is true.

Image persistence is also more common on older screens. Screens that have gone through 4-5 years of usage usually start getting slight image persistence, which gets worse with time, from my experience.
