Asus 5850 TOP, sell or keep?

I've been looking, and I can't decide what to do with my video card. I'm trying to find out if I will have any future benefit by upgrading my 5850 to a 6870. The cards seem so close in performance, the only thing that would tear them apart is the future. Based on my sig rig, what would you do? I'm open to all suggestions, but please note I am actually limited to what physical size card I can use. I actually had to modify my case slightly to accommodate the 5850. Also, I have no plans to change, and no want to change my case or power supply.

For reference, here is the card I am currently using/talking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121370

Generally, and this is my own opinion, when you are upgrading it's to increase the performance. Why waste money on the same performance then?

There would be no money lost in this situation, assuming the 6870 is the card choice.

You're not gonna see any differences besides the 6870 handling tesselation better. Otherwise these cards are so close that it won't matter.

I think I may just unlock the card to a 5870, and stay with it. Opinions?

I'd wait a bit (that 5850 is still doing fine anyway... Right?) and upgrade to a 7870 or whatever the 7xxx equivalent to the 6870. If the performance gain is the same as 5xxx to 6xxx, you should have something with the performance of a 6950/6970.

Keep the 5850 and see how the 7k series turns out, not worth it to go from what you have to a 6 series card.

I'm in the same boat but looking at Crossfire upgrade. Currently running 2x 5850s and really wanted to get an upgrade in before Skrim hits, but there is just nowhere to go that offers decent performance:cost ratio and the 7xxx are just so far away.

crossfire 5850s should play skyrim perfectly fine, even at max settings
