[Guru3D] Intel Retailers Raise CPU Prices - Page 15

Greedy retailers. Newegg doesn't seem to have touched their prices yet. Well, here's hoping the AMD prices dip a bit more. Honestly considering the FX-8150 as an upgrade to my old e2180.

AMD has done very bad not to prices, as you may think.
I'm subcontractor, we are working in Fab 28 Israel. Around year ago Intel started re-install and upgrade for current Fab to produce newer chips, about 6 month ago there were "whispers" about new building for F28 and brand new Fab afterwords near the old one. 3 month ago those plans became real, we saw in papers about Intel receiving money from government and adds on every job site about Intel recruiting 1600 people/trainees/technicians.
Now month ago, suddenly it all stopped and project received "Hold". Now it stands as canceled, Intel is letting go people that are responsible for project execution a.k.a. upgrades for current and new fab.
Same, as far as i know, goes for Ireland Intel plants. Where our partners were supposed to start working some time ago.

The impact is much, much bigger than you might think.
I do hope it is not somehow tied to AMD failures and we will see those projects very soon instead of looking for new jobs.

No, a demand increase does not necessary mean a price increase. There are many additional factors to consider.

Intel did not change prices. Retailers in smaller EU markets have.

Higher demand does not always equate to higher costs on the customer's side unless we are talking about a very small market with a very finite quantity (check the basic but good supply and demand curve) as there are always external factors that shift both curves and their relation to the entire market.

In this case, of course retailers would increase the price. It is an easy way to increase revenue for the stores when Intel has no clear competition. As far as Intel goes, hopefully we see them adhering to their tick tock strategy despite AMD dropping the ball on it.

since people who wait for buldozer get screwed up so they are now moving to intel, it increasing demand so back to economic law more demand = increasing price. but not really worry me much since i'll wait for intel newer processor that they said will come this year end.
