With stock cooling/aircooling, be aware that ambient temps can vary at times or you may wind up with a crash due to overheating. Not a great idea to run it on the absolute edge without taking that variable into consideration. A crash will cause you to lose some progress on a WU and anything that puts you behind in getting a WU done hurts.
However if temps under load do look good and you have enough thermal headroom to accomidate this at the speed and voltages you want to use, go for it.

Worldshaker, it has to be something about the graphical display or something keeping it from showing temps. HWmonitor has so far worked fine here but it could also be something about your hardware too like a thermal sensor on the board gone whacky, but from what you are describing it's gotta be the folding client causing that.

I’m new to this folding@home, I have a few questions about which clients to setup on my main rig.

I have a quad core CPU and 2 GTX 8800 in SLI,

Based on this page (high performance client): http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther

Is there a client that will take advantage of SLI?
Should I run one client for CPU based and another for GPU (or two GPU client) or run the V7 (SMP and GPU)

Nothing that will take advantage of SLI I'm afraid. And as for the client, use this one:
http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...racker-v2.html

Much simpler than the others.

Almost ready and doing some fine tuning.
Biggest problem is the board, not the CPU. CPU is doing great, temps are well within spec.
