Which Temps are more accurate?

So I have my 1090T at 3.7GHz on 1.325v. The cooler is my new Xigmatek Aegir.

My ambient temps are pretty low (18 degrees C). My problem is that my Core Temps and CPU temps are not even close together. At Idle, my Core temps are around 20C and CPU temps are around 35C. On load, the Core temps are 35C and the CPU temps fluctuate from 55C to 60C. Any idea why there is a huge gap between them? Which should I trust for overclocking?

core temps are what to look at, so you load at 60c. you thought going for a better cooler

the temp sensors are faulty, now my cpu says 35c but cores 15c
you want to watch the temp of the cores (15C in my case) under load your max temp is 60c

the cpu temp is measured from the motherboard not the cpu itself so will always be wrong

It's hard to say actually.
Does you motherboard have a dedicated software temperature monitor?
I would go by that, I usually go with the temperature from the motherboard LED area and go from there. Temperature monitors aren't accurate at all, it could be close but it's best to use and IR temperature gun or something*that is calibrated properly of course.
Real temp is an okay software monitor and overclocking clubs that require max load temps usually require that you have real temp with the screen shot.

My motherboard has an LED area but no temp readings from it.

Real Temp only works with Intel CPUs. lol

I am not going for major overclocking, just 4GHz on some occasions but I will probably stay near 3.8GHz.

I use have used all the main temp monitoring clients (Everest, Core Temp, Overdrive, Speedfan). They all give the same readings for the Core temp and the CPU temp.

I am interested in hearing from other 1090T overclockers or ASRock Extreme4 users. Which do you trust?

Ok, so this is weird. I am now at ~4GHz with 1.365v and the core temp average has gone up to 40c but the CPU temp readings are staying at about 60c.

This is just out there to other Thuban/ASRock Extreme4 970 overclockers: Which temps are you trusting?

EDIT: Is there a difference between loads induced by stress tests? AMD Overdrive has a stress test and when I run that, both temps are 5c lower than Prime95 Blend. Thing is, CPU is at 100 percent during both.

Cpu temp sensor is on the motherboard, under the CPU, so has nothing to do with your CPU temp. If you put a fan to cool the back of your mobo(CPU area) the CPU temp will drop and the core temp stay the same. I have a proof for this, but I have to find it where is

CPU Temp is what the motherboard is reading in the cpu socket, it could either be in-accurate or you are overheating at the socket. I think they are rated to about 72c though so you are still fine.

The Core Temp is taken from the actual CPU and is what should be the most accurate. Always look at readings at Load, since at idle they tend to get flaky when you have good cooling and/or ambients.

My heatsink is about mid-end air. My ambients are phenomenal.
