The top picture is a reference board and the bottom pic is of a PowerColor 5850.

looks like a nice cooler but I don't see a heatpipe style VREG heatsink, so I fear that I won't have any drastic improvement that a dedicated heatpipe-heatsink with a fan would offer...

I'm in contact with Thermalright about compatibility at the moment and will hopefully pull the trigger on a VRM4 and I'll be back to post my results, thanks for your help!
