Absurd Vcore for stable 4.6 GHZ - Page 2

Thread Starter
Well, after having read the guide- changed a few necessary options and tested between intervals, i'm at 1.4 vcore (under load) running Prime 95 now, it's significantly better than what I had... now I need to find out stability- but this should be a good branching point... Hopefully.

What board is included in the bundle? It may be that the board has got really big vdrops + vdroops and thus they've pumped the vCore up.

Also, you need to bear in mind that you purchased an "Overclocked Bundle" of course the main goal of the company to sell bundles for users that has little to none knowledge about overclocking and a system that will most unlikely to get unstable for a long time even with heavy usage. Looking at Scan's point of view of view, pumping in such volts is a fail-safe method to ensure stability for the overclocked system.

You should've purchased the components separately if you were planning to overclock in the future and save yourself some ££.

Initially, I had thought of buying the components seperately, but funnily enough- it was more expensive by £50. Maybe I had the unfortunate circumstance of bad pricing. But erm, in regards to the board... it's a Z68XP UD4-B3 Gigabyte board.

Consider posting your system specs. in the user cp like most of us do here.
Sounds to me like you've got a good system that just needs some proper tweaking.

Thanks, nice to meet you all (y)

Furthermore, some good news, I guess- I've managed to drop the vcore down to 1.36, with load line calibration at level 4. It managed to boot up at 4.6 ghz and is still running as I write this. Will have to do some testing on prime and get back to you all.

EDIT: Although, I get some weird temperature jumps on two of my cores... :'( idling at about 35-39
random jumps to 49 at idle? meh.

^ that idle is normal, be careful OC'ing with some of those auto settings on. People have reported their boards jumping to +1.5v on the core on weird spikes.

This while having CPU-Z to double check my volts as all three programs gives different volts so i just average it with what I have in the BIOS.
