Watercooling - Where to start?

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I am thinking about using watercooling for my new build but have a few questions. Surely using water to cool my new pc build will end up in small leaks after it has been installed for some time? Also, can anyone provide me with a shopping basket with all the things I will need for my watercooling setup, preferably www.watercoolinguk.co.uk?

Thank you,

Chris.

for a basic setup look no further than an XSPC RASA kit

Whoa buddy, slow down...

If you need someone to put together a shopping cart for you you are definitely not ready. I am personally doing my first loop this upcoming weekend and i have all the things arriving monday. It was about 400 bucks all together and took me about 5 weeks to decide on what i was getting. There is so much reading you need to do, so much you need to learn and understand. How much radiator do you need, what delta temps are you after, do you want silent or performance.

Please look for some beginners guides for overclocking and read for a good 2 weeks at least. Once you start to realize you are coming up with less and less questions and more and more decisions are being made, that is when your ALMOST ready to take the job.

I am a new member here so i dont have much linkage from this forum but i do know if you head on over to overclockers.com they have a HUGE array of watercooling guides, but im sure there are tons of guides here as well.

^ All of that. Watercooling, while relatively easy, is not something to be taken lightly. Research, research, and research some more. First read all the stickies up top, then do some google searches for more guides, then browse parts til you can't see straight. It's a fun experience and the end results are well worth the time and effort, but poor planning can lead to a 50lb brick in the shape of your computer case.

Also, im not sure what type of computer users you are but i constantly find myself tweaking until the wee hours of the morning to the tune of 50 extra mhz...If your like me, follow my lead adn dont get the XSPC kit. Its a great kit, trust me i have one sitting in my kitchen for an install in a haf x Saturday. But for my loop i went all custom.

Just depends how quickly and severely you get the upgrade itch

Yeah what these guys said. Either just pick up a kit, for your setup an RS240 xspc kit would be fine, or do a lot more reading before putting together a custom loop.

You'll learn more and it's easier for us if you come to us with a screenshot of your cart and then we can critique from there.

M going to hijack this thread, since my dilema is similar!
I've been reading up alot for the past couple of days on watercooling and have decided to go down that route in couple of months time (busy christmas periods :/).
Juggalo's guide helped me alot in understanding all the parts that the loop would consists of (awesome job, thanks a bunch). I was looking at RASA kits, but somehow i just feel the components in those kits would not match the ones i would chose if i was doing a custom loop in quality.

So heres the potential loop, have a look at it and let me know if it would work or if anything needs swapping out. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: i know the res/pump combo choice might be poor but i guess it would be ok to start of with. Suggestions welcome

Link leads to empty basket... -.-

Rasa kits aren't bad, but you get what you pay for. You'll have a lot more customization, fun, and performance with a custom loop; however you'll be paying a lot more.
