You can. I have one plugged in and move the analog and my guy started running. I can't bring myself to use a controller for anything but difficult helicopters (gta) or platforming games but it does work.

As far as I can tell this game is running amazingly smooth with everything turned up and 4x msaa, can do 8 but I notice a litter stutter driving around at high speeds. The game world looks to be the size of GTA IV but run so much better (though it doesn't look as real). As for gameplay this thing is so over the top that I'm in love with it. I've spent two hours just messing around and I'm so glad I preordered it.

I've preordered it on steam and had about 45mins of fun with it, at which point it decided to take a page out of the Bethesda games handbook and crash tongue.gif I'm going to have lunch now and after that play some more.
the game works fine with a controller by the way (I'm using a PS3 controller set to emulate a 360 controller using motioninjoy). I genuinely love the whole over-the-top style though, which is what, in my mind, sets it apart from the other open-world GTA-like games.

Played it a bit this morning when I woke up and holy hell. Graphics are very pleasing to the eye and its hot-swappable between mouse/keyboard and the 360 controller. It even gives you a proper layout as soon as you touch a key on either the keyboard or controller.

The driving is great as well, it doesn't feel incredibly cartoony, but you can tell its not realistic. The cars feel like they have weight to them, and some actually go fast. The thing that annoyed me about SR2 is that even the fastest car felt like it was only going 60 MPH.

This is a huge improvement over saints row 2.

^This. The driving in this game is actually fun. You're not fighting your car for control and it does exactly what you expect it to do when you go to do it. Cars can make sharp turns as easy as they can do a 180 and drive off in the opposite direction. Is it realistic? Of course not, but thats the point of the whole game biggrin.gif. Can't wait till I start playing this games coop with a friend, you can do the whole campaign which is expected these days but few games actually do it.

All settings maxed out, without AA, and this is a pretty gorgeous game. I've notice though, that the enemies are really hard to kill when its on the hardest difficulty, and you can quickly find yourself in over your head.
