Can a Hyper 212+ handle a 4.5GHZ OC?

Thread Starter
just went with a i5 2500k/Z68 setup.

And im wondering can the hyper 212+ handle 4.5GHZ on a 2500K?

Will it be easy or will i be cutting it close?

WAYYYYYYYY 2 close. That's like putting a small rad on a big motor. Do it right the first time my friend. Boss parts need boss cooling. Noctua NH D14, Silver Arrow, Titan Fenrir or Corsair water cooling unit.

Yes. 4.5 ghz on a 2600k with HT on. Temps didn't go above 72C in Prime or IBT.

Depends on how much voltage the chip needs - typically 4.5 doesn't need too much, and the 212+ is a very decent cooler, so it should easily be able to handle it as long as you don't need large amounts of voltage

It's a 2500k, not a 130w TDP SB-E.

@OP 4.5Ghz should be well within the reach of that cooler, assuming you have an atleast average clocking chip.
