I read something about this on PC Gamer. This was their reasoning (although I forget the article, so no link)....
Different regions have different release dates since shipments are normally made on the same day of each week, and retailers have adopted specific days for video game stock to be added. That is the reason releases are days a part. Video games in the US release on Tuesdays (same with movies, although there are occasional exceptions). I am not sure shipping and retail stocking in the UK/EU could be completed by Tuesday morning.
Once digital distribution becomes the norm, you will see the launch dates converge to the same day. Yet that is a ways away for games that are released on consoles.Edited by being that guy - 10/24/11 at 1:03am
