gtx 580 lightning overclock

Hello a couple of weeks ago i bought a msi gtx 580 lightning. To my understanding these cards are supposed to reach 950mhz and higher on the core easily. However my video card can only reach 930mhz 24/7 stable. No matter how much i tweak the voltages it seems that i cannot get the card to run stable past 940mhz for an extended period of time. Did i just end up with a bad gpu or is there something key that i am missing.

Uh....930 is an excellent overclock? Overclocking is always luck of the draw depending on the silicon lottery. What you're saying is that 930 is a bad overclock, I assure you its not. Thats far better than the average overclock.

You might be able to push it higher with more GPU voltage. But the difference between 930 and 940 is pretty trivial...I wouldn't sweat it.

Come over to the [Official] GTX 580 Overclocking Club and read through the posts. Sift through for your Lightning card and you'll get a ton of help understanding it's limits and capabilities through others already having gone down that road.

Join up! And Welcome to OCN bud.
