EVGA hydro copper 2 gtx 580 waterblock

Thread Starter
What up oc.net!

About 2 weeks ago, Ruby dove underwater for the first time (read: I installed my first watercooling loop) using the XSPC rs360 kit.

Right now, it is just a CPU only loop, but I want to add my EVGA superclocked gtx 580 GPU to the loop. I saw that EVGA has a 100% full coverage waterblock built specifically for my card, and it comes with a single slot back panel to make my GPU a single slotter. However, I saw that the EK blocks are much cheaper than the EVGA hydro copper 2, but they don't cover the whole of the GPU PCB from end to end, nor do they come with a single slot back panel adapter.

My dilemma is that there aren't any reviews for the hydro copper 2 waterblock, so I do not know if the EVGA block performs on the same level, if not better, as the EK block.

So my question is should I get the more expensive, but more cohesive looking, EVGA block, or the cheaper EK block? If the EK block, which version?

Thanks in advance!

Well EK has been having a lot of problems lately with their products. Mostly corrosion problems so as of late they haven't been recommended very much.

However, as I'm sure every single member on here will tell you as well, the EVGA Hydro Copper blocks are amazing. They not only look nice and professional (imo) but they perform pretty awesome as well.

Definitely recommend those

I was on the same situation debating between the two blocks. I have made my mind and will be going for the more expensive EVGA one first cause all the issue with the EK nickel blocks but also cause of looks, like the full cover block. Performance wise from what I have read are similar and the Hydro 2 is less restrictive than their older version. I believe it is a personal preference for those two particular blocks.

Your superclock is just a overclocked reference board.

Ok, so the consensus is to save up for the EVGA block. I was leaning toward that, but i wanted to make sure I wasn't EVGA's one bit of shoddy hardware XD

+rep to those who i found useful

I've read a couple of side by side reviews and the hydro copper 2's kept up with the other manufacturers just fine. Most, not all but most, blocks these days perform about the same so it's mostly an aesthetic choice. My vote is for the hydro copper, they just look the best imo. Don't forget the Evga backplate to clean up the overall look and (supposedly) add some stability to the card.
