high fps stuttering when maxing out games - Page 2

thanks for replying! Im actually using the 11.2 drivers, so im not sure how accurate your results would be.

The reason im sticking with these drivers is because I've been actually getting worse performance with the newer ones, specially in GTA4. :/

Also this is only in SP.

Ok well I'm not going to revert to previous drivers and I don't play GTA IV but I'll load up SP and play a bit through with your exact settings and report back.

( edit )

One last note: Your settings are quite a bit different as I have more settings available. I suppose it's because of playing multiplayer, but the few things missing are below.

SpeakerCount=6
RenderAheadLimit=0
[Chat]
ChatWindowAlpha=10
SmallChatWindowTimer=5

I don't think it matters much but just a note for you as well - you should be using DX11, not DX10 by the way!

-edit- I just realized it does happen in mp as well I guess I haven't played it enough to notice it cause I honestly wanted to finish campaign mode first.

that's odd, I have an unpatched retail version of the game, I don't know if it makes any difference.

It does, you should patch it. It has received quite a few patches!

So to report back, I didn't experience anything but butter-smooth play.
I even left the GPU at stock clocks 775/1000.

I'd say it's probably due to driver related issues and an un-patched game.

No problem. I would make a recommendation though, at the resolution you're playing at, you should definitely crank the AA to 4x and DX to DX11! At that resolution this card should have no problems with 4xAA, perhaps even 8x.

Good luck!
