But in gaming, it really doesn't matter.

And attached a quick run with 2500k at 4.8GHz.
Ah you beat me to it. Was just about to post my 2500K's Cinebench score.

Oh well, here it is anyway so OP can have another point of comparison:

If you are into tweaking some new hardware, there is nothing wrong with going with Bulldozer chip right now. We are all forgetting that the Phenom II series taps out at around 4.2GHz on air cooling. Bulldozer can do 5GHz with a decent chip and a refined overclock. I almost want to buy one to mess around with.

X4 955BE if you want the best processor as well as the best price and best energy efficiency. IF you just want what's newer, go with the other ones.

You forgot to mention the full watercooling or phase-change setup you'll need to maintain a 5 GHz overclock with a Bulldozer chip

All kidding aside, an FX6100 at 5 GHz performs about the same as a 2500K @ stock clock speeds (just look at the Cinebench R11.5 multithreaded test on the previous page). That's just downright sad. At least a Thuban can keep up with a 2500K in heavily multithreaded tasks without needing to be overclocked to 5 GHz.

Thread Starter
I ended up going with a 1090T, thanks a lot guys, a 955 would of been great for gaming (which is my main concern) but the extra two cores I'm sure will help with streaming and multitasking.

1090T, and have fun.

Get the 1090 all the way. I have an 1100 @ 4.2ghz and seems almost everyone gets 4.0ghz lol. Some lucky ones get 4.5 but that seems rare. Considering your use its the best bet. I would also try 1866 memory if not more paired with 8gb. Cpu's can easily use it now and the thuban is no exception. Bf3 uses all 6 cores too

I had an 8150 and at 4.7ghz got too hot to be comfortable on prime and I have 2 120mm radiators. 4100 performance appears pathetic for the cost. Btw the 8150 did 5.1ghz benchmarks but too hot to prime test more than 10mins.

The llano series is more budget oriented and if your going to crossfire its especially not worth it since an x4 can overclock super easy.

And yes the 2500k at $180 is a steal but rumors are current batch isn't overclocking so easily. I went with amd for the underdog thing too and 6 cores
