Ghost Drive Error

I don't know what is the appropriate title for this problem but I kind of made it up based on what happens. So my laptop's Hard drive was having issues early this year, giving me random BSODs. When summer came, the hard drive decided to die so in my attempt to fix it, I tried to connect the laptop drive with my sig rig. What happened was I tried to boot from it to fix it but it would not work. I tried to take some files from the laptop drive but the drive was basically dead so I just gave up and RMA'd it. After I was not able to fix the drive, my sig rig inherited an issue upon reboot or power on. Basically what would happen after reboot, or power on is that a screen will show up with an error about windows, and then follow that screen, option to boot from 2 different Windows 7 partitions. The first one is the one with the error, so when I select that, it takes me to the initial screen and tells me there is an error. Sorry I do not have a screen shot, but if you've encountered this problem you'd understand. I can choose to exit that error screen, and I do, then it takes me back to the selection screen for the 2 different "Windows 7" options. I choose the 2nd one and it boots normally. The second option is my sigrig's boot drive (64GB SSD). It's really annoying have reboot because I assume the computer would just boot, but every time it would just hang on that screen until I select the correct "Windows 7" option. I am 100% certain that this is caused by me hooking up the laptop hard drive (which had Windows 7 as an OS). Does anyone have a solution?

My 2 cents: after reading the post I think some screenshots could help (me) to better understand your problem.

Anyway, maybe I got it right, if so try this: start Win7 (the good one), clisk Start/Run and type in the box "msconfig"without quotes, then hit Enter. The boot configuration menu will show up and you can select which of the two Win installations is the "default" - just select the known good Win7.

Alternatively you could get this boot-editing tool. It's overkill for what you need, but if you wanna try it or for some reason manual editing doesn't work, try THIS.

cheers

Back-up and RMA? It just sounds like a failing drive download THIS and see how much life it has left.
