did my CORSAIR just die???

hello, how ya all been???
so i finished my build like nearly a month ago (i believe) and i did OC it before, but after that i returned to stock... today i was surfing the internet when all of a sudden my computer stopped working!!! i tried to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on... at first i thought my cpu overheated... but hten i tried half an hour later and it still didn't turn on.... so can it be my psu.... and when i take the psu power cable out of the wall socket and plug it back in and try turning the comp. on, the fans would go on for a fraction of a second... but after that no matter how much i keep hitting the power button on my case the fans wouldn't turn on until i take the cable off the wall socket for a minute...
please help, cause it really sucks that i can't play assassins creed now... i really was enjoying it!!!
and could the psu taken other components with it. eg the cpu, mobo, gpu, etc???? i hope not... and if it did, should the shop where i bought my psu from pay me for that (cause im in australia, so i don't think i'll get corsair support directly, or will I?)
thanks in advance...

EDIT:
when i plug the cable at the back of the psu, i can hear a high pitched noise, and when i take it out, then i can't...

See if you could re-set the PSU with the combination unplug power cord, PSU on/off, PC on/off button, plug the power cord back and repeat the on/off switch and PC on button.

If it doesn't work, the PSU is going bad.

Take a paper clip and run it between the green and any black wire on the 24 pin. Unplug everything except one fan. Make sure the power switch is off on the Psu first. once you have it setup, turn the power switch on. If the fan turns and stays on, pay is fine. If it does what it is now, Psu is shot. If the pay is shot, it is also possible that it shorted other parts in the system.

i got my old p4 out of the garage and tried running with the stock psu, it was working fine. then i tried running the corsair psu and plugged in the mobo and the cpu connectors. the fans didn't turn on, nor did the cpu... so i believe the psu is the culprit here???

Yep. I would post up in the psu section for help with a new good quality one. I don't recommend corsairs. I had 3 12000ax die in less than 6 months. It refused to power my pc after I put my second 580 in. It just died. That's just me though.

Just RMA it. If it is good you should be able to re-set the protection mode.

Definitely a bad PSU if you already put it in a different system and it wouldn't boot.

RMA it and you should be all set.
