Need a simple solution to a complex problem.(INTEL 320 series 160GB and Corsair V128)

Thread Starter
I've Corsair Nova V128 120GB SSD in my desktop(sig rig) and INTEL 320 Series SSDSA2CW160G3K5 160GB Sata II MLC in my laptop.

Both are partitioned as 30GB Cboot) and rest as Dgames+storage)(i know letters don't matter, just trying to explain it as simple as possible).

Now, i think Intel is a better performer then Corsair V128 since i bought Intel one recently. Is this true ?

What i wanna do is; switch the C: partitions between each other and put Intel in my desktop and Corsair in my laptop.

So, what i ask is; is it doable without a fresh install, and if yes, how ?

Thanks in advance...

Peace...

I am sure there is a way to do it using cloning software (e.g. acronis true image or the default windows 7 image) which will allow it. But I think it's still simpler to do fresh installs. Will help to avoid problems in the future.

Yes, you could take images of each drive then deploy the images on the drive you want to swap over to. It would be a bit of a fiddle but it's certainly possible. I use Macrium Reflect Free, good program considering the cost

You can jimmy up a ST or WD hard drive and use their free softwares (backend/powered by Acronis) to do this on those drives.

The thing that confused me is, one is 120gb drive and the other is 160gb, and even though i tried to make them equivalent by means of 30GB boot drive on each of them but even if they are not identical by means of a few megabytes, or even kilobyets, wouldn't that cause a problem when putting one's image to the other one ?

PS: I don't care about D: drives since i can simply copy/paste them on my desktop...
