Need help OC'ing my 2500K

Thread Starter
I'm OC'ing using this guide: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpu...ore-i5-2500k/4
There are some stuff I didn't do, like changing BCLK (advice from fellow OCN guys) and changing memory voltage and multiplier since they were all correct on Auto.

Now I did manage to boot at 100x45. I set my DVID to +0.060 Vcore, thinking I would get around 1.3v. When I opened CPU-Z it said my Vcore was 1.10v. So I rebooted back to BIOS and saw in the M.I.T that my Vcore was 1.395v, what the hell?

I tried lowering to +0.020, now M.I.T reads 1.36v. Should I try +0.010? I don't really get how this DVID thing works as my last mobo had a manual Vcore setting.

All I did with my 2600k was enable manual tweaking, upped multipliers and voltages. Thats all. None of those technical mumbo-jumbo. Were you running Prime95/IBT when looking at CPU-Z? If not, those voltages would remain at 1.10v, and spike up to keep the 4.5Ghz stable.

I'm assuming CPU-Z was showing 1.1v because the CPU was idling at 1.6GHz (as they do). Can you change your offset back to +0.060, boot into windows and check in CPU-Z what the vcore AND speed is?

I was following a guide too but it didn't work. So I the end I just turned off power saver and then just changed the voltage and multiplier and it worked

CPU-Z showed 4.5GHz on boot (I disabled Speedstep), so it shouldn't have been idling at 1.6GHz. I'm afraid I might roast my CPU with +0.060, because as I said my M.I.T was reading almost 1.4v after I rebooted back to BIOS (without stress testing).

Alright, so what should I do? Change DVID back to +0.060 and try to stress test? I have a feeling that I don't get the right Vcore readings.

I only have Auto, Normal, Level 1 and Level 2.

Forgot to mention that my QPI/VTT voltage is 1.120v.
