Lowering RAM timings

Is any combination of RAM timings fine when tightening/loosening from stock? Example is that can I use 7-10-7-22-2, 8-7-8-25-2, etc. when doing this? Or are there recommended "timing sets" for RAM modules for Sandy Bridge?

Tighter timings usually result in lower CPU overclocks. This isn't so much of a problem since everybody often tweak their CPU overclock first (getting the maximum possible overclock). The memory overclock is a final touch in your achievement but can be very irritating in terms of finding stability. There's really no best timing...just the tightest timing you can achieve with your CPU overclock. I personally feel that it's best to keep memory at stock settings since there isn't much of a difference with performance unless benchmarking your memory 'only'...even intense memory applications look more into the amount of RAM you have than the actual speeds of it.

Tight timings on a sandy bridge platform, really doesn't matter. Since it is faster clock for clock the faster mhz will do fine with higher timings. Then only way you will see anything is by running synthetic benchmarks for the ram to begin with. Or perhaps some apps that are super ram intense, you might see a little difference. But day-to-day you will not see any difference on the tight timings -vs- loose timings.

Oh ok. So increasing the RAM module clocks is more priority than tightening timings?
