Even stock 570 SLI is comparable to those cards. They will also run cooler/quieter, and provide higher OC potential if you space them properly.
Wrong.

The 590 can be overclocked and actually nudges the performance capabilities of 580s in stock clocks SLI'd.

Please don't spread misinformation.

The 6990 is a loud card...Not going to lie, mine get very loud while gaming but, they do a good job.

My major issue with the 6990 would be the fact that I've now been through 8 cards (All RMA'd) where as I've never had to RMA my 590's (in the office).

I personally see the 590 out-perform the 6990 in real world applications and some games...

It basically depends on what brand you trust more to provide you with a warranty etc.

Again, can you please post proof to back this up? My 570s in SLI score 12K in 3DMark 11. Can you give me a link to an aircooled 590 beating that?

Not trying to be a dick, but from my understanding 590s have limited overclocking potential and usually score around 9-10K in 3DMark 11 performance preset.

Im at work right now so I cant post scores. However my 590 is watercooled and I have scored over 12k on a single card. They overclock pretty well actually, there is a lot of misinformation about the card.

There is an INCREDIBLE amount of misinformation about the card and unfortunately, it's spread like the plague...Which is unfortunate considering how well the card actually overclocks.

I will be benching mine under water again come Friday but, I had over 13k with the card...Not a challenge.

http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...-friendly.html

Is Cain's overclock with 2 cards...2 cards are actually buggy and limited because one core really doesn't work in a 4 setup...So, 15k with 3 solid cores and 1 crippled is quite remarkable.

I said this once and I'll say it again, please don't spread misinformation.

I'll buy your 570's next year if you ship to the Netherlands

Im not trying to spread information, but learn actually. I didn't ask for watercooled scores, but aircooled.

What part of my statements were false? In most scenarios(i.e. playing games on an aircooled setup), GTX 570 SLI are just as good, if not better than a 590, while also being the most cost efficient option for the original poster.

Only reason i have for going to a 6990 is if you planned to watercool. sell 570 +$250, buy a 6990, ur at a -$350, add waterblock/fittings -$500 total. VS buying another 570 -$300, buy 2 waterblocks/fittings and end up at -$600.

Air cooled scores would be almost identical...The issue is relying on someone that actually has the knowledge to properly cool their case.

I absolutely disagree with them being "just as good" because it's a proven fallacy.

Stock for Stock, the 590 is the clear winner...Even OC'd 570's barely touch the 590 stock...heavily OC'd 570's do pass the 590 but, comparing OC'd cards to stock is a little below our intelligence. Don't you think?

Cost efficiency? Barely...50$ difference...Woopee.

On Newegg the GTX 570 is 350$ x2 that's 700 and the GTX 590 is 750$...

The 590 is also getting better performance per driver and when overclocked accomplishes the same if not better scores then overclocked 570's...

The cards do not explode...There realistically are no heat problems if you've properly cooled your case...

They're literally basically the same option without the risk of blowing out like the 570's have a reputation of...

Of your options, I think a single slot solution is the OP's best bet...

3DMark11? i wont bench in it because nvidia decided that 590 shouldnt run in it with freqs higher than 730. card throttles whatever temps you have so...

If you knew how to read, you would see that the topic creator already owned a GTX 570. He would have to sell that at a loss, before shelling out $750 for a 590. For him, the cheapest solution is to SLI his 570 with an additional one.
