I've got something to ask, I always have low fps on my gaming when I turn on the laptop the first time, when I checked my GPU usage with MSI Afterburner, it isn't stable, GPU usage drops from 90% to 50%-70% all the time. That is what cause the stutter and low fps. But if I restart my laptop, it will back to normal(no fps drop and GPU usage 90% all the time), so I thought this is driver issue, I tried to upgrade/downgrade almost any Nvidia driver(driver sweeper method) but the problem is still there, I always need to restart my laptop to be able to play games because it will always have fps drop if I didn't.
So, today I saw your uninstall driver guide, I'm going to do follow your guide but I've a question before I do this, I've heard that we should never delete an Nvidia chipset or my card won't work(is this true?). I'm kind of noob for these kinds of things, so my question is, is it safe because I'm afraid your guide includes deleting Nvidia chipset because at the end of the guide I saw "Install your AMD/Nvidia drivers and reboot".
My spec :

GT 520M 1GB
4GB DDR3
Win 7 64bit

p.s : Sorry for bad english.

Thanks for this guide!

Having just had to revert back from nvidia 310.70 to 306.97, I'm glad you explained a way for me to do it cleanly!

I agree it only takes about 2 mins once you read through the guide carefully.

Cheers mate and greetings from a fellow Sheffielder!

Thanks for the good guide.
But I my case, I found some oddities. - For example: Windows 7 after uninstalling the drivers and restart the PC automatically installs
some drivers despite the ban and even disconnected the internet cable (I do not understand why?).
Another thing that I have found is that despite all uninstall drivers nvidia remain many files in the folder
c :/ Windows/System32/DriverStore/FileRepository - is that okay?

Thank you for any information and excuse my bad English.

since i am completely new to the "hard part" of computing, i was wondering if this is the way to uninstall my old graphics card (geforce 570 twin frozer) and replace it with a geforce 680?
Hey!

I have recently suffered from random shutdowns. We tried to debug it in sevenforums and got to conclusion that the problem might be in my Nvidia drivers so now I'm in the process of uninstalling them completely and then re installing them.

I decided to follow this thread

Anyways, either way, the first part is to uninstall drivers from programs and features list. I had six Nvidia programs there. I started uninstalling them one by one. I got to graphics uninstalling part, and it required restarting the system. I clicked OK, but then my computer screen just went black, and I had to manually press the power button to shutdown my computer. ( Later I saw some tutorial which said you should uninstall everything except graphics program first, then uninstall the graphics program, so that might have caused the weird uninstall progress )

The whole uninstalling progress was weird. When I restarted my computer, I was in 640x480 resolution ( which is normal after uninstalling drivers? ) but the computer required restart of the system, so I went ahead and boom, it restarted with nvidia drivers on and with full resolution. I noticed, that the Nvidia drivers were older version, that I had updated from while ago. I did some research and found out this was quite normal that windows just rollbacked the drivers.

Anyways I did this process so many times, that I got on the first nvidia drivers I've installed ( I guess ). Then I uninstalled them and it restarted without any Nvidia drivers in programs and features list, but I STILL HAD ALL THE FILES IN MY C: DRIVE. Also, the nvidia control panel didn't show up in taskbar as usual, but I could open it by typing it in Windows Start and clicking it. I tried to delete some Nvidia folder from C: but I couldn't because it was in use. It seems I have the oldest Nvidia drivers ever installed on this computer ( 301.42 ). My screen is also in full resolution (ofc).

Any ideas what to do now? How I can uninstall Nvidia, when it doesn't show up in programs and features list? And continue this tutorial? smile.gif

Thanks, hope someone could help me smile.gif

I'd just install the latest drivers smile.gif
And I'd guess that the drivers you have now are what windows update gave you!

When you install the new drivers. Choose custom install, and check clean install so it resets the NVidia settings!
And, uncheck the HD audio drivers because they are usually not needed and can cause problems smile.gif
