Soooooo, not good afterall. This game completely crashes my box at startup and I couldn't even load Windows afterwards. Had to run in safe mode to restore. Not sure what is up yet, I am installing the latest drivers now (285.62) and will report back.

Anybody else have BF3 completely fark up their rig?

I can't believe any of you fell for this marketing scheme.

Note: 2xAA and 4xAA, make no noticeable difference. SSAO and HBAO make no real difference you'd see in gameplay like some other games. This is just marketing to an absolute extreme. You don't need SLI.

This has me at a constant 60 FPS, 70+ with vsync off and I do the get occasional dip into the 50's. But with a mild overclock of 880/core and 1760/shader, I see nothing noticeable anymore.

Here is what I'm running-

Running 1080 @ Ultra.
Thanks for this really good news! I've got my 6950 Toxic on the way and our rigs have fairly similar stats.

6 hours of game play. Seems to be running great on ultra with my 6950's (@925/1375) FPS 65-75.

Whats the marketing scheme exactly? Did they say you would need dual 580's to max the game at 1080p?

Marketing indeed.

My 5870 runs this game flawlessly @ high settings (not ultra though). Of course, I did have to compromise a little and disable AA, but other than that, 1920x1200, 60+ FPS average easily, and at those settings, It runs just as good if not better than Bad Company 2 did at max... and BF3 looks A LOT better. Score one for us first gen DX11 card guys.

Looks like some of you guys got played by Nvidia marketing.

Also, you don't need an i5/i7 to play this game perfectly either. A Phenom II X4 simply blows through this game like it's nothing. It's hard to believe that my "pathetic" little AMD Phenom II is still keeping up with the big bad Intel Core i series CPUs. I'm going to hold on to this CPU for as long as I possibly can. Even today, it is still blowing my mind how good it is for the $150 I payed for it 2 years ago.

I am playing at 2560x1660 high with shadows low, hbao, occlusion and other useless features off and the game runs fantastic. I am getting 55 and up, most of the time hoovering around 80 on big maps, no noticeable slowdowns. I am really impressed.

The game runs so better than BC2 even though I was easily getting 120 fps with everything maxed out. It feels smooth.

They went on camera at Gamescom and that was the official statement. 580s to max Battlefield 3.

They said ultra settings are reserved for people with multi-GPU setups:

Same here. The only time the framerate dips is when there's fire on screen.
