The average gamer doesn't want to hear that he has to go out and buy new hardware to play a game. Saying you need two 580's in SLI does not help sell more copies of the game. I have no idea how you are thinking that their stated requirements were somehow a marketing scheme. If they were touting this game's Ultra graphics on a single 5770, then that
would be impressive. Not only that, it would be extremely accessible, which is arguably more important to selling copies.
With the game completely maxed in multiplayer
, the hardware requirements go up immensely. The single player does not have anywhere near the view distance that the multiplayer maps have. 2x 580's with every setting maxed out for consistent 60+ FPS is not hard to fathom.
