external storage solution.

Thread Starter
hello, I currently only have a laptop and I would like to know what is the best external storage solution at the moment for someone who like to store photos and videos.

I am think about something like a USB 3.0 HDD dock and buy a 1TB 3.5" harddrive and store the photo and video externally. However, I would like to mirror the data onto two harddrives so in case on fails, how can I do that with the external HDD dock?

This is what I am thinking about buying.

Thanks

Problem with what your suggesting is those docks are good for storage but not for (external raid)

What your basically after is something to copy your data onto then a backup for that hdd?

Why not get a cheap network drive (NAS) and a cheap usb WD portable drive,

Have the portable drive with you all the time and the network drive safely at home

is NAS difficult? It sounds very difficult because it involves networking and separated software.

Nah, its easy you just buy a nas controller they are about £10 more than what you posted on ebay but they can mirror each other and you can transfer data quicker via lan than usb 2.0

+1 for the NAS and it isn't difficult to set up and use.
