[Apple] Refurbished iPad 64Gb (1st Generation) -$399

Just bought one. Compared to the used 16Gb models that sell for $350 on eBay I think this is an amazing deal. Don't sue me if I'm wrong but I've heard that the refurbished iPads can also be new ones since Apple did not sell enough 64Gb models.

Apple does an iPad refresh in the Spring. March/April or so.

I don't think so. AFAIK the iPad 2 is still too new and with Samsung manufacturing Apple's processors and the legal issues between them I think there won't be a refresh until early-mid next year.

Is there a difference (big or small) between the first gen and second gen iPad? I'm talking about other than being slightly faster. Is there anything the second can do that the first can't?

Besides the different processors, the 2nd gen has a sub-par front camera for facetime and a back camera for so-so 720p video (My mother just bought the 32Gb iPad 2). The second generation is also a bit thinner.

IMO It all comes down to what you get fore your money. Live without a pair of sub-par camera's, a better processor and a thinner design for $400 (64Gb) or get the same capacity with the additional options for $700.

Both tablets can use the same apps, the major difference is that some games render a little bit prettier on the iPad 2 than on the 1st generation iPad. Thats about the only benefit I can think of.

Oh and IMO a con of having an iPad 2 is waiting longer for a jailbreak to come out. I've heard that anywhere from tomorrow to two weeks from now there will already be an iOS 5 jailbreak ready for all apple products with the exclusion of th iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.

Oh and the refurbished iPad comes with a 1 year warranty, all the accessories, and a box, just like any other new iPad

Thanks for this CrazzyRussian. Can anyone else chime in? I'm really close to jumping on this (my GF really wants an iPad).

if you have the money, get the ipad 2. I really enjoyed the cameras for facetime and occasionally recording. Too bad I sold it for textbooks
