6990 which brand?

Thread Starter
So i've owned a lot of ATI cards but i've never had to warranty replace one. I'd like to know first hand accounts of Manufacturer customer service. I'm finally going to be getting one of these beasts, and I want to make sure if something happens that it won't take forever and a day to get it taken care of.

Seems like XFX is out of stock everywhere so it has to be popular? Visiontek also offers the lifetime warranty, but what good is it if the service sucks? I'm obviously not going to be using it for a 3 year time period as I will eventually upgrade again. So length of the warranty isn't that big of an issue to me. historically i've had good luck with Sapphire and XFX both for length of use. I've put this XFX card I have now through HELL and back. Its twin was sold a while back while I was unemployed but I know its still going too as the owner is a close friend.

Any input is welcome. Additionally I tried searching and there was an older thread, but no mention of customer service was involved and it was pretty dated.

Thanks!

I've seen some really bad reviews about XFX customer service. I haven't had to use them before but I have had their cards and I feel like they've done me pretty well. I've seen some pretty good posts about Sapphire's customer service and that would probably be the brand I would go with on a future purchase.

All service sucks, sapph asus msi xfx. It comes down to warranty on paper and the 2nd lifetime transfer makes 6990s and 5970s a much greater lure from XFX when it comes time to sell.

I got 1000/1500 out of my sapphire card and they have amazing RMA service and they have never let me down yet. Every card I have bought from them have been great overclockers. I have not had the best experience with other brands including XFX and Powercolor as far as overclocking goes, i have not had to deal with either RMA services.

That doesnt mean you will have a bad experience but thats just my recommendation based on my experience.

All 6990s are the same and reference design. Just pick the cheapest.

I think I should agree with you, every brand has issues with their customer support, specially in my country.
Thus I think going with xfx will be the safest option.
Sapphire only has 2years warranty.

XFX warranties using the overclock bios with the others you void the warranty flipping the switch. XFX also has lifetime and transferable warranty they are the best choice on paper.
