tri-H50 mod? - Page 2

It would be tricky, since you would need to put pumps between rads.

I dont see why not try at least. Yes, it may not be as good as a dedicated loop but he already has the H50s and maybe he doesnt want to spend the money for one.

I dont think you'll be able to sell them easily anyways. I dont see many H50s selling on this forum or many people looking for one.

this exactly! i was looking at a real loop and if i were to have all of them in the loop it would be $300+ but if i did a gpu only loop it would be $200-300.
with this h50 loop i got the 2 h50 for $60 total so my investment would be under $100 for a complete loop.

would i be able to reuse the old liquid from the h50 in the new loop? with an acrylic rez?

no you would want to just buy a gallon of distilled water

I dont think you'll be able to reuse the liquid inside the H50s but you should use distilled. Its cheap and you can get alot of it in case of refills.

Also since you already have H50, a dedicated loop for 1 GPU seems impractical too :[ Its not worth it for most people. I know when I got my loop it cost me like $300+ so I was like why not add the GPU too since I already have rad/res/pump.

i have 2 470s in sli lol this is why i wanted the WC loop and agreed on why you added the gpu. the only drawback for adding the gpus is i have to spend $100 for each full block or spend $50 for universal and then some HS for each vrm. so i thought why not just get an extra 2 h50s and keep the stock fans for cooling the vrms

I mean if it works, why not? No need to mindlessly go dedicated loop for them unless you plan to completely put everything under water (cpu + 2x gpus) which is an option if the temps arent working out as much as you like.

I got the 480 + block for 2xx on someone on the forums

any reason why you wouldnt leave them separated? like having an individual H50 cool each of the CPU/GPUs? you probably wont see any difference in temps, just because your going to use the same rads.

if you want to have fun modding i would say the optimal would have a rad after each water block (ie cpu/rad/470/rad/470rad/red/cpu) but i bet cpu/rad/470/470/rad/rad/res/cpu would work just as well and they're be slightly less tubing clutter.

if you want better temps you would have to upgrade the radiator. theres alot of guides for modding the H50 on the H50/H70 page

i doubt you can reuse the liquid inside the H50 since they include just barely enough to fill it, and you would need more to fill the res too. speaking of which, if you reuse the H50 rads and use distilled water, your going to need some anti-corrosion additive. since the waterblock/pump is copper and the H50 rad is aluminum. this stuff i got from this guide which i thought was very informative. you need it because of something about "galvanic corrosion" or "mixed metal corrosion". its all in that one guide i linked. hope this helps

Good point about the galvanic corrosion. You shouldn't mix aluminum and copper in the same loop. Luckily, radiators on the market are mostly copper to match with the block.

One thing I would recommend is to get a new copper rad if you plan to put 2x 470s cause thats quite alot of heat needed to be dissipated.

*If you do decide to keep them separate, how do you plan to mount all the radiators? Just a thought.
