i7 2600k Asus Maximus IV Extreme-z HELP OC!

Thread Starter
Hi guys.. i just got this new build... Umm ok we start with Spec's...
i72600K- 8 GIG Memory.. 1600 MHZ (G.Skill) 1.5 V
Antec Case.. I have H70 Cooling in my other build so this one i got about 4-5 fans in case.. and basically it.. (For now) ...
If im forgetting something let me know... Another Cool Feature of the mobo is there an option of 4.2 GHZ or 4.6 GHZ .. but i tried both dont seem stable... they run and everything but what i use it for chess engine Testing.. slows down alot... so if someone can help me would be great.. I soon plan on building "Phase cooling" which will then be the cooler for this comp!

You need to tweak voltages manually instead of using that auto stuff.

Sent from my CyanogenModded HTC Sensation 4g.

Asus/ROG has a forum specifically dedicated to that mobo. Not that I want to send anyone away from here, but it would take a novelx2 to give you the info that's already written it extraordinary detail over there.

well could you explicate on what you mean by "slows down alot"?

i am not sure what kind of stress program the chess thing uses since i haven't used it myself, but when running linpacks and using up all my memory.. the system does slow down to the point of not being able to browse the net due to it being so slow and may actually contribute to the downfall of what normally would be a stable system...

meaning that the act of opening up another application even just web browsing may become a tipping point sort of speak... making the rig bsod or freeze

when running very intensive stress tests.. i recommend having nothing opened except for that.. go make some coffee or do something else until it's finished

if it still bsods, then you have an unstable rig.. 4.6 is a very low overclock imo.. it should take almost no extra voltage from stock vid to make it stable on a halfway decent chip.. 1.3-1.34v
