Interesting how the spec sheet for that GB board does not specify how many SATA ports the board has... Don't count on all of those being there when the board ships, unless you're ok with 3 or 4 separate Marvell chipsets.

I don't know why there are so few SATA ports on that eVGA, even with the feature cut on the chipset that leaves 10 available (see here, no slides after that one have been leaked yet); so where did the rest of them go?

perhaps the remaining sata is hiding in the R&D dept at EVGA...lol

I'd be ok with 6, but knowing what most people would do with a RAID 1+0 array on that thing then would make more sense to have more.

This^ All x79 boards i've seen have had atleast 10.
Maybe eVGA is only using Sata3?

The intel X79 boards have 4 or 6 ports as well. It doesn't matter what the slides say.

The point is it's not finalized and they were going to try to cram in at least 6-8, with a few being SAS-capable; back when the feature cut rumors (they're STILL rumors, mind you) started spreading it was assumed that if it came to pass that board manufacturers would spam TI/Marvell controllers to take over the ports that the chipset couldn't. Even with product launches being this close, it's still a wild guess as to which boards will have how many ports.
