How to delete un deletable shortcut? - Page 3

Rebooting usually does the trick for me
Try creating a shortcut with the exact same name then delete it.

If not still try to do as above, but drag it into a folder then delete it.

Edit: Here are a bunch of things to try lol: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/894773.htm

1. Open up a command prompt.
2. Navigate to the folder that the object resides in (probably C:\\Users\\whereveruser\\desktop).
3. Run "dir /a /x /p" to display the contents of the folder, including hidden files and 8.3 filenames.
4. Find the 8.3 filename of the object to the left of the regular, long filename.
5. Run "del <8.3 name>" to delete it.

ShortySmalls: the reason why I am recommending Shift+Delete is because it just occurred to me that it could be trying to move this Shortcut to the Recycle Bin. Shift+Delete bypasses the Recycle Bin and just performs the Delete command.

This often happens when you delete or move the file/shortcut and the dregs are left behind in the registry

Clean out your registry with a tool like ccleaner, or manually with regedit
(it may take a while to find it manually)

Hope that helps
