Just Ran Prime for 5hrs on 965 4.0 OC...

...with a minimal boost to vcore (to 1.45V) and DDR3 (1.65V). Max temp reached was 61°, right now idling at 36-37°.

Does 61° seem too high? Or should I try for 4.1-4.2?

Just keep it under 63c. 55c max for extended times would be ideal.

Seems fine to me, however whenever my old 9850 got that hot my PC would start getting slower and my GPU would start getting Bottlenecked in games like BFBC2.

seems too high to go any further until you get cooling in check..

Whenever I checked it, it averaged 57-58° in Prime. But I was taking a nap...

Thanks for the fast response (btw, 4.2 on a 955 - good job).

Have you tried lowering the voltage at all? It will be ok unless you use programs that will load your cpu to 100% often because games and such won't push your cpu as hard as prime.

If you do run a lot of cpu intensive programs I would be tempted to drop it back to 3.9 because it's very close to the chips max of 62c.

62c is what AMD says is max temp, i have pushed mine harder, but only becuz that is me. To be safe i would not push it any futher untill you can cool it better. That cpu could go higher though.
By the way if you havent -go ahead and try a higher oc with the same vcore setting, that wont hurt, and also as stated above try lowering the vcore one step at a time also if you have not yet.

63 max temp. Stay below 55c during average load. Your's is fine. Alot of people freak at 61c but when is your cpu ever cooking that hard except during prime?

My vcore is .05 (or one increment) higher than stock. I had two BCcode 3b BSODs in SCII - which many seem to think = more vcore needed.

Then I decided to up the multiplier since SCII is so CPU dependent. Since it seems steady in prime, I'm hoping it'll reduce the little lag I experience in major 4v4 battles.
