id say get either 2 580s or a 590 and ditch amd altogether.. but that's just coming from a guy who went from a 3gb 580 to 2 xfire 6970s to finally happy with a 590.

6970 Crossfire are now head-to-head with 580 SLI 3Gb, and at high-res/high AA, 6970 Crossfire is better then 580 1.5Gb SLI.

Scaling of 6970 is better then 580 SLI scaling. And if you remove the cheating Nvidia are doing with tessellation in benchmarks, then 6970 Crossfire and 580 SLi are head-to-head with the latest drivers on both side.

Read the conclusion of this well writen article. Writen by experts, not fanboys using 8 months old reviews to prove their points.

Cos if you're gonna primarily be gaming, you won't need the hyperthreading on the 2600K, and hence save some money.

Edit: My bad, I misread that. Yeah, you could get a 2600K if you don't mind paying extra.

Offtopic: That made me feel happy I stuck with my Phantom 3gb ! I was going to trade it in, and get 2x 6970's! What was wrong with the 2 6970's by the way? Just not as good as you thought, or? I like sticking with the fastest single card, no SLI/Crossfire driver trouble!

dont buy ati cards nvidia has better drivers im not an ati fan bot even nvidia's fan i just personal choose the best and the best buy is nvidia and intel for processing but i dont want to go off-topic so, if you have money if you are on a tight budget ATI and AMD is the answer.I'l choose nvidia because Nvidia has better drivers and as i heard by alot of people ati has much problems with their drivers you know what i mean they can't run some games, games crush, etc 2) nvidia has physx thats why nvidia gets sponsored by big title games because games require physyx in our days,ATI has to fix alot of thinks to make better gpu's than Nvidia,if you want hardcore gaming i recomend to you nvidia because of the better drivers!! if you want somethink cheap buy the 6970/50 without any thought but as i sayed i recommend to you to buy allways nvidia gpu because of a lot of reasons that i explained to you, good luck with your chioce i hope i helped

For your single 1920x1200 resolution?

Simple. Single or SLI, GTX 580 is better performance in every bench.

6970 is better price/performance.

Both will give you top of the line gaming with everything maxed. Even VRAM instensive games for your monitor. Pick whichever you'd like and you'll be more than happy.

Proof that more VRAM does nothing but 1FPS between 1.5GB and 3GB on single 1080p monitor. (Watch the video below).

Don't let above biased posts fool you. Tesselation or not the fact of the matter is the 580 beats 6970 in sheer performance even in SLI.

The 6970 Crossfire compares more closely to the 570 SLI. proof.

Scaling with Nvidia has improved. It's not till you get to TRI-SLI or Tri-Crossfire where AMD does better with scalability.

LOL. Yeah yeah.

''580 is better in every bench''?. 580 and 6970 are head-to-head with latest drivers. The 6970 is NOT equal to the 570. It's faster.

Proof. Not a Youtube video. Not old benchmarks made with old drivers. Here's some benchmarks made yesterday, of the latest, hotttest game. BF3.

I think it's clear. 580 = 6970. 6970 faster then 570. 580 SLi = 6970 SLI.

When Nvidia can't use the tessellation trick to cheat, the 580 and 6970 are on equal ground. Here it is, with no tessellation rendering in the background that you don't even see on screen.

Scorpion49 benchmarks vs HardOCP. Random OCN user hiding behind an alias, vs experts at HardOCP. Your choice..

580 faster then 6970 is a myth, based on old benchmarks, and posted by Nvidia fanboys. They are on equal ground with latest drivers.

''Single or SLI, GTX 580 is better performance in every bench'' = wrong. Proof, with latest drivers, made yesterday, and with a game where developpers are not paid by Nvidia.
