for the price of 2 580s, why not just get a single gtx590?

Now here's a current bench. Again for every bench you see on one website there's another that contradicts. All are lead by advertising dollars. Hence why OCN members benches are more reliable.

Lower the res to 1920x1080p and the 580 pulls away in sheer performance. For single 1080p monitors the 580 hands down.

If your going multiples the 6970 2GB evens out to the 580 1.5GB. Throw in another gig and the 580 3GB again pulls ahead of the 6970 2GB in multiple monitors where VRAM is king being spread across three screens.

Since the OP has single monitor this benchmark is more accurate to the performance he's going to get. OP can make his choice based on his budget. Many of the cards listed do well and anything past 45 FPS - 50 FPS will be playable nicely.

Exactly! Hence why Levesque only post benches from HardAMD, I mean HardOCP Overall, I do believe that CF 6970 offers better price/performance.

Because we all put our full names as a user name. Seriously Levesque (Is that your name? Homies call you Big L?) just let it go. I know you're upset because I posted a realistic review that pertains more to people who just want some cards rather than an LN2 bench machine, and it didn't paint the 6970 as the fastest piece of silicon on earth. I never said I was scientifically accurate, I just tested the cards I had with what I could do. Get over it.

Found some current benches as well.

September 27th one month ago after BF3 had time to work out issues etc and both Nvidia and AMD had thier newest drivers out. Some of the GPU's show over clocked and the clocks they were running to obtain the bench.

Nvidia 285.38 and AMD 11.10 Catalyst - Drivers.

I noticed that overall nvidia cards have better optimizations in games than ati cards. So I think the argument should be a 570sli or 580sli. For 1080p/1200p both are perfect, so save some money get the 570sli and then wait for Kepler...
That's not a current benchmark... that's an alpha/beta of BF3.. hardly reliable.

Just google "6970 review" and there will be a number of credible reviews comparing the 6970 and 580 in different games.

In addition HardOCP benched the 6970 crossfire vs 580 sli @ 2560x1600

Yea, alot will happen in 30 days. LOL. Only Hardocp is 'credible'? (Those were current drivers btw).

I'm not sure if you noticed or read the OP's post. He's on a single 1900x1200 resolution monitor. The 580 excels the 6970 in this situation.

Wonder why HardOCP didn't bench those same cards on a 1920x1200 res monitor that majority of people own anyway?

Glad to see the 6970 is doing better than it has for all these months in a game where it mostly compares to a 570 in other games on a single 1920x1200 monitor.

The extra VRAM on the 6970 in their bench helped even out against the 580's sheer GPU power on 2560x1600 res.

Wonder what the results would have been had they used the 580 3.0GB card against the 6970 2.0GB in 2560x1600. See my point?

I'll also be happy to see other benches from other 'reliable' sources as well. HardOCP by all means isn't the definitive web site.

I'll agree my google search for "recent BF3 benchmarks" lead me to a Denmark tech website and not reliable. I wonder if people there think it's credible?

More credible then OCN members hiding behind alias and using FRAPs. Look at the beginning of the HardOCP review. Surprise! There is a real person name! An expert that is not hiding.

Ok. So it's better to buy a higher price card to play at a lower resolution, and a lower price card to play at a higher resolution . Humm. Really logical.

When Nvidia are not paying the developpers, it shows. No useless use of tesselation to render a scene not even showing on the screen in BF3... Nvidia $$$ didn't worked this time.

Nvidia couldn't cheat on that one. So the 6970 and 580 are head-to-head.

Stop being an hypocrite, and trying to discredit HardOCP with your smart Denmark remarks. It won't work. The owner of HardOCP is using 580 SLI. So please, stop with the ''destroy-credibility'' campaign.

You don't like BF3 results, so you are trying to discredit and dismiss HardOCP. Your usual tactic.

We all now know that you are an Nvidia loyalist. And it's ok. No problem in that. But when you are trying to discredit the hard work of experts, then it is a problem.

YOU are not an expert. Just another random guy like me. And other OCN members hiding behind alias like you are also not experts...

HardOCP are experts. And they usually favor Nvidia. But since Nvidia couldn't buy the BF3 developpers, to use useless levels of tessellation, the 580 and 6970 are head-to-head.

And pleeeeeasse. Stop posting those useless beta benchmarks results everywhere in every threads! Those are b-e-t-a, and u-s-e-l-e-s-s.

Levesque your personal attacks against those who don't bow down to your biased logic is childish. Your calling people who don't agree with you names on OCN paints an ugly picture of you.

Who do you think you are telling people what they can post? How about you stop posting your useless biased garbage. Your campaign against Nvidia is obvious filled with hate, I can't find one post where you don't put down an Nvidia card in order to make your delusional point. Your very laughable with your Nvidia consipiracy theory against AMD, tesselation, cheating etc. I can't tell you how incredibly immature you sound.

You also have never suggested an Nvidia card, where as I have given many suggestions to AMD cards where it was the better choice. There's many times where either card will serve the OP well and you chime in with your "I'm an Nvidia loyalist" bull for doing so, even where I say the cards compare quite well with each other and suggest either option as a good choice. Who's biased now? *shows Levesque a mirror*

I have owned many AMD cards....3870, 4870. 5870, and 6870. There is ton's of posts that I place AMD as great cards and quite frankly both are great companies, AMD isn't the only choice though. When someone suggests Nvidia you get bent all out of shape and post back very angrily.

I give the OP two choices in most of my threads and give the pluses to both card and let the OP decide. On the AMD threads when someone is asking between two AMD cards I don't suggest an Nvidia alternative if they aren't looking for one, unlike yourself on Nvidia threads. Plain and simple your a hater bud.

Your badgering me in posts and PM's has to stop. Your truly a disturbed individual, how old are you? What is your real name if your not hiding behind your OCN avatar? Get a life. Everyone on OCN dosen't use their real name. My name is Mike, make you happy now "Levesque".

Also as for the bench I posted it was only to show that where one person can find a post there's another that paints a different picutre. Only another OCN member who isn't paid by advertising dollars is actually credible IMO. Scorpion did a very descriptive post on many games that showed recent benches with recent drivers and proof that show how on par the 6970 vs 570 is when he did his simple bench offs. One game isn't the definitive answer like you posted from HardOCP, he did multiple.

The 6970 compares very closely 570 in single or dual set up on single1080p monitor. SLI scaling has improved as even the bench review you posted said how well it's improved. It's not until you add multiple monitors does it pull away due to the extra VRAM. proof.

Stop stalking me on OCN. Post your opinions and move on. Go back to your 6990 Club where you put down Nvidia and say they win on all benches only because they cheat and put down the 590 to make yourself feel better. You poorly represent them as their OP.

Even with improved drivers the 580 still beats the 6970 even if by a little in some places and a lot in many others on a single monitor and the 580 3GB beats it in multiple monitors. One game that it gets close to performance dosen't mean that one post holds true to everything else. That's the OP's question and answer.

I digress because arguing with Levesque lowers my IQ stooping down to his level. Usually I let you post your biased dribble hate and let it go. Your darn way abusive on OCN on a personal level and had to put my foot down.
