A 550Ti is not going to out perform a GTS 250 by that much. As you can see on this Hierarchy chart it is only about 1 small notch ahead.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ce,3042-7.html

Now a GTX 560Ti or a HD 6870 or greater would be a nice improvement. A GTX 460 would be a nice upgrade as well.

I swaped back to the gts 250 to see if the game went back to being playable, but it still seems to be running bad which is making my think its the cpu thats got a fault. is there any way i can check if the cpu has cores that are faulty or something?

Thats your problem

You changed motherboard (which has its own drivers)
You changed CPU (which can have its own driver)
You changed everything else so offcourse its not gonna work

You need to do FORMAT C (backup every file you have like foto's music, movies, bookmarks, ...) --> no need to backup games as they won't work because it has to install it to the register again...

Dzjeebus ******* christ man ALWAYS fresh install after major upgrade --> else you'll create lot's of conflict as windos is trying to search for that graphics card over there, but it also finds some other card over there etc... (but I guess you noticed that for yourself now )

Have fun doing Format c: takes whole day when PC is back in business, but DAMN you'll notice the difference in performance

Any update on your system man? I didnt get to stick around and see your answer, till now. But the fact that you changed almost your whole system, a fresh install of Windows is essential to optimal performance, as ASUSfreak mentioned. It sucks re downloading all the updates and stuff, especially if you have a slow internet connection, but it is worth it in the long run.

OK i reformated and its working how i should now =) thanks for all yours guys help. Didnt think somthing as simple as a reformat would make such a diffrence.
