BF3 Crossfire Issues! - Page 15

Last night i tried 11.10 with caps4 and without, no difference with crossfire scaling, still sitting around 60% usage with crap FPS. Tried 11.9 with caps and without (was hoping this was the cure as a lot of people in this thread are having good results) but no it was the same maybe a tad worse (teran highway i was watching it sitting at 35% usage across both my cards). I sure hope AMD have something up there sleve i know im not the only one with this problem, and i know its not my system, BC2, Crysis 2, Heaven benchmark all tax my gpu to the max and i get around 100% scaling. The cpu overclock is working as expected ive checkd with cpuz while running bf3. stupid drivers! but hey i know it will get resolved, its just frustrating at the moment.

Weird. Must test out my i5 but my phenom does fine for this game. 6950s xfire vsync on 65%-100% usage, ultra, smooth as butter.

Which drivers / caps are you using? settings for game?
I find it REALLY odd that some people run it fine while others struggle.
Edit: the only time i see 90% usage is on the awards screen when its going through which unlocks you just got etc, fps is in the 100's there.. strange $h1t

With all this i can play the game at max settings with about 60 fps most of the time.

This game still has issues with eyefinity. For now just playing on single monitor.

I have 2 XFX Radeon 6870

My cards are OC at 980 Mhz Core and 1200 Mhz Mem with voltage at 1.25

I use MSI afterburner to do the card OC (MB will not let me up the voltage on the cards). In MB BIOS turned up the PCI frequency (Stock 100) to 135.

Temp never gets above 78 c with stock cooler and auto fan.
Woah woah WOAH. Keep your PCIE Freq at 100 bro! You could seriously risk breaking something at 135 ! O_O

I'm playing the game on medium with all the fixes in this thread, and it's still around 60-70% usage on each GPU. If I crank the game up to Ultra I run it around 50-100 FPS, depending on the AA settings. At Ultra/Co-Op it will usually go to almost 100% but not at medium. Why?

I felt compelled to register and share my experience.

I have a 6870x2 (basically a 6870 crossfire in one card, akin to the 6990's of the world, but with slower chips), and I'm having the same problems, as far as GPU usage. I'm using MSI afterburner to monitor it on screen, and it varies wildly but rarely ever breaks 80% usage, except on the awards screen after the round is over (when it shoots to over 90%). My specs:

AMD 6870x2
Intel i7 860
8GB Mushkin DDR3
EVGA P55 MoBo
750Watt Corsair HX
ZR24W Monitor using DisplayPort @ 1920x1200x60

I'm currently using the 11.10 Catalyst final with 11.9 CAP 4's and that improved things quite a bit from the CAP3's and, well, everything else before it.

I've disabled HT, and that...... I'm not sure it improved much (I guess a bit, since I don't get the unexplainable lag spikes from the CPU, which weren't the bad, but oh well..... I'm turning HT on again tonight after upgrading yesterday and double checking that).

What did improve my system tremendously, despite some people who say otherwise (not to say they're lying, but they haven't experienced what I've experienced on my system) was adding 4GB of RAM. I did that yesterday and I don't get any heavy stuttering (near hard locks). RAM usage was reaching over 90% before, so that has been remedied.

I'm playing on everything ultra, except MSAA (which visually isn't making much difference right now, but my FPS, along with my GPU usage as reported by MSI Afterburner, varies wildly).

I'm thinking of trying this: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1037952451 and reporting back, but other than that, I've seen no other solution, and I'd really love to be able to run at my monitor's native resolution. I will keep an eye on this thread!

I've had some issues before, setting everything to ultra gave solid fps for the first few minutes, than I started getting huge fps drops regardless of the action going on. Guess it has something to do with memory, perhaps leaking, or the 1gb of VRAM bottlenecking.

Other issues I had were addressed by setting VSYNC ingame (microstuttering) and tweaking the register by disabling enableULPS, as stated in OP. Which I am by the way very thankful for!

I turned everything on ultra, except textures to high and MSAA to 2* and it runs perfectly smooth. WHenever I set either the textures or MSAA higher, the frame drops return.

I see no difference between high and ultra textures so im fine running it on high, however the extra MSAA would be nice.

This has been the same using 11.9 cap 2, 11.10 preview 3 cap 4 and 11.10 cap 4.

Perhaps this helps for you..

I'm having the same exact issue. Turning the textures to high and AA off completely fixed my crossfire GPU usage. I forced AA in CCC and game play looks great with no GPU usage issue.
