Yes, it mght whack the motherboard and chipset driver other than the graphics related drivers. Do a restore from a good working cbackup if you have one, or try to reinstall motherboard and chipset drivers.

Some relevant information for fellow crossfire battlefielders. For the most popular GPU overclock/monitoring/profile-enforcing software utilities running a symbiotic software layer (most likely functioning as an OSD type monitor) such as Radeonpro, ATT, & MSI Afterburner may experience utter instability if operating these tools during BF3 gameplay. Not disabling API monitoring via Radeonpro resulted in "atikmpag" BSOD events during the immediate entry load or, if I were lucky, upon "resuming campaign". ATT would (running it after the Radeonpro crash discovery) seize up with a fatal error & break fullscreen rendering subsequently forcing a restart of the game. Afterburner seemed operable some of the time, though crash to desktops or "directx rendering" prompts would ensue .. given enough time.

Fortunately, sa Radeonpro is far and away my preferred game tweaking tool, disabling API monitoring in the specific BF3 profile allowed conflict free background tasking during gameplay. All the customized options were thus capably enforced, and I'm quite happy to report a successful 3 hour campaign session at Ultra settings including 4xEQAA, HDAO, maximum anisotropy, so on so forth. I capably cranked the clocks to 1020/1450 (5 GHz on the CPU) and the system responded with 96% & beyond GPU load (from GPU-Z observation) spitting out 120-140 frames that were freaking unshakably consistent across three "levels"..frames that, besides consistent, could only best be described as butter. According to the frustratingly general data I gathered during one entire "level", frame-rates dipped below 100 exactly one time (82 was recorded minimum), and even that was after a tank exploded a dang wall beside my character. This wa all done on a somewhat paltry 2560x1600 monitor, & I'm gonna hook up my 3x1 in portrait & landscape tomorrow (it worked very well on my first attempt, & I hope other Eyefinity users get past these glitches because the game's wicked fun & likely the best looking game yet delivered).

You running anything in the background, bud? I tested bf3 with both CAP 2 & 3 of this month and found BOTH mangled my framerates & fluidity of the experience. Install the "dummy" cap here: http://www.multiupload.com/DWOEYR6E50.

Run the command file and follow the single step instruction. When specific CAP updates have tanked, this tweak has saved titles from abysmal ruin on more than one occasion.

The new CAP 3's seem to destroy performance, I made a thread about this. Uninstalling them fixes many issues for players.

Woah..I thought Cap 3 is supposed to improve Crossfire BF3 performance instead. So the link which MichaelTurbo posted is the way to go, at least for now?

It is suppose to, but many issues were resolved by uninstalling it, including the HORRIBLE stutter.

I'd say yes, for now that's the best way to go.

Hmm..not BF3-related, but I'm currently playing The Witcher, and come to think of it, ever since I installed CAP 3, I noticed micro pauses in the game ever so often which I never seemed to get before.

Please you makse sure to disable ULPS. All instances of "enableulps****" must be "0".

Or remove/uninstall Afterburner, when prompted to keep "settings", select "no".

Or just rollback to Catalyst 11.9
