I agree, both systems there are overkill. Even on ultra, both should run well.

I have SLI GTX 460s and I often have 180 FPS in 1v1 on ultra settings, but I usually play on medium just out of habit from my SC1 days.

W00T! Hyper 212 EVO can be preordered now at Umart and it only costs $38. So I guess I should get that.

I did some shipping calculations and this is what came to conclusion.

If I order everything from Umart:
$894+ $38 shipping
Total cost: $932

OR

Order everything from PCCG & Only order case from Umart:
PCCG: $796 + $44 shipping = $840
Umart: $114 + $28 shipping = $142
Total cost: $982

Total Shipping Savings: $50

VS

i2400 build(with CM 690 II adv. case)
Umart: $767 + $36 shipping = $803

Savings by downgrading to i5 2400 build: $129

So overall it's going to cost $129 to build a 2500K Gaming rig. You may think I'm wasting ridiculous amount of money but I think it's just a personal preference. I just like it better because for $129 I get better Mobo, RAM, CPU cooler and >1.5GHz more CPU power.

Benefits:
- constant 60FPS in Sc2 and I won't have to worry about lag in 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
- If I decide to upgrade to ivy bride, I won't need to worry about Mobo compatibility and I don't need to buy a CPU cooler to overclock.
- More option for upgradability in the future and reusability when it gets old.

What I'm getting:
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K $229
CPU HSF: Hyper 212 EVO $38
Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 $135
RAM: G.Skill-NT 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 $65
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $59 Only buying it when it gets cheaper since because of flooding, it costs $109 now.
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC 1GB $259
Case: Cooler Master 690 II advanced $114
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 520W $69

I'm going to play devils valucate.

For your list of games, with SC2 being the primary focus, an i3-2120 and a GTX460 would be a much better value. SC2 does not see any meaningful improvement in CPUs above the 2120, or on GPUs above the GTX460.

Skyrim and Dragon Age II are probably the only 2 that might be worth spending the extra on a true 4 core and the 560Ti, but I'm sure they would run fine on the i3/460 combo, just have to adjust settings to get it nice and smooth.

That final list looks great, I would only suggest maybe getting a PSU with more power for future purposes, but if you don't really have any plans of going SLI then you'll be fine for the time being.

Registered just for this...

It's really sad to see this misinformation on an hardware enthusiast, intel-subforum.

I would like to respectfully point out a few facts and benchmarks:
- SC2 runs on 2 threads
- SC2 is heavily CPU-dependent and very light on the GPU. You can easily set Ultra GPU settings at 1920x1080 with a GTX 460

Aside from higher frequency (the effects of which you can see here):
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...x_9.html#sect2

, the game benefits significantly from the higher L3 cache of i5's:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/129
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...5t,2859-8.html

Considering minimum FPS is the most important thing in the game (big battles), if you want to play on High/Ultra then not getting an i5 over an i3 is a little silly if your budget allows for it.
