BF3 (final) performance thread - Page 51

I'm using 11.10 drivers.. I dip into the low 40s randomly on Ultra, no AA. On the same map with the same players, I'll randomly get 60 FPS minimum for 15 min or so, then I dip down. I know my setup should be running the game much faster. I got 9734 in 3D Mark 11, and many other games run fine..

What gives? It even dips if I set everything to High.. :/

I did and was quite surprised. I don't believe a "memory leak" has anything to do with it.

Origin is opening programs, files, and anything it can to gather information.

It actually opened up starcraft and inspected every single folder associated with it including battlenet...

So its origin rummaging through your stuff in the background.
Supporting this hypothesis, my external HDD spins up EVERY time BF3 starts, inexplicable from the game alone. Origin must be accessing it. I disconnect it when I play now.

Playing on Ultra, no AA.. I turned off hyperthreading and it seems to have made my FPS much more stable.

Prove it.

No other game causes my external to spin up. Not my 11 games on Steam, not my 5 local SSD games. Just my one Origin game -- BF3.
