Is it My Cheap Psu Causing all these Problems?! - Page 3

Hmm your processor may not be able to unlock. Thats a possiblity.

Phaed:
Yeah its not the best brand and Iwhen I purchased this PSU I was not as knowledgable in my brands etc as I am now. I will eventually switch to a better PSU. But this one has done a great job of powering my rig against all odds. It baffles me. I may send it to you to look into when I upgrade PSU. I expect you will dissect it like an alien to figure out why it did not explode after 3 months like most other Ultras. LOL. I have definatley not been gentle with it. Started with a C2D system and upgraded all the way up to current with it. It has never complained. I just don't get it.

If not that im going to get a good one for cheap off tiger direct.

Also if i get a new psu do you think i can unlock my 4th core and oc cause it wont with this psu.
Apevia is just as bad (if not worse) than the one you currently have. Please, do yourself a favor and get a good, quality unit. It really does make a difference in terms of system stability, and overall longevity of your components.

Seasonic, Corsair, and Antec have great units in that price range. There's quite a few other reputable power supply makers as well, and you can easily check them out in the reputable power supply sticky.

And lastly, I doubt that 4th core will unlock even with a mew power supply. Of course, there's other things you can try to stabilize it like raise the voltages, adjust the frequency, ect.. You'll probably be better off making a separate thread about that though.

If you bought it before that then congratulations on having one of the one in ten thousand occurrences, a Wintech that didn't explode within 24 months.

Ultra has a reputation, and it is baaaaaaaaaad. And well-deserved.
Actually, not all Ultra units were horrible. I remember their X3 lineup was actually really good. But you're right, everything else they made was pretty crappy.
